A DAZZLING display of fireworks, entertainment and activities will transform the Burnie waterfront this New Year's Eve.
A Night on the Terrace will get the city partying with a fun-filled evening that will appeal to all.
Since the event started seven years ago, it has revamped local New Year's celebrations.
"Prior to this, New Year's in Burnie was a bit groggy with mainly just a pub scene so grandparents and children missed out on the fun and just stayed at home,'' Burnie City Council tourism and marketing manager Jenny Cox said.
"We wanted to have an event that we could be proud of that was all about getting families and the community together.''
A Night on the Terrace is split up into two parts to cater for all ages.
The events from 5.30-9.30pm will appeal to families, with local performers providing entertainment, beach activities, face painting, drumming and roving characters and a large dragon that will weave their way through the crowd.
Those needing a break from the noise can relax by the bonfire too.
"It creates a great chill-out place, a lovely mellow spot,'' Ms Cox said.
The end of the children's events will be marked by the first fireworks display.
"This is my favourite part of the night as many little ones are seeing the fireworks for the first time and I just love to watch the expressions on their faces,'' Ms Cox said.
The adults party on from here until the wee hours with the entertainment of live music from local artists and the second fireworks display to bring in the new year.
Another drawcard of the event is that it is accessible to all.
"Even if you are flat broke you can come along for just $2 with your own food and see the bands and enjoy the entertainment and have a fantastic time,'' Ms Cox said.
"It is a gift to the city by the Burnie City Council.''
Set on the beautiful waterfront, with plenty of entertainment, food and wine, A Night on the Terrace will provide a fantastic evening for all.
"When you get a gorgeous night and everyone is on the beach you just think you are in heaven and wouldn't want to be anywhere else,'' Ms Cox said.
A Night on the Terrace is held along the Burnie waterfront on December 31 from 5.30pm. Entry is $2.
